The Strong Firm P.C. is a boutique business law firm located in Hughes Landing in The Woodlands, Texas. The firm was founded in 2004 by Managing Shareholder, Bret L. Strong, who has held ties to The Woodlands community for over 30 years. The firm was intentionally designed to serve clients locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally, with a “high-touch” client focused practice. Clients range from Fortune 500 companies to local sole proprietors. The firm is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to add to our team! The position opportunity requires experience (2+ years) working in a law firm. Position will support our firm’s Paralegal, Attorneys and staff in handling all facets of the firm’s business transactions and commercial disputes, with exposure to our core practice areas, including: Real Estate Law, Business Law, Oil, Gas & Energy Law, Estate Planning & Probate Law, Commercial Litigation and Disputes, and Employment Law.
Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys, paralegal and staff in the performance of complex and substantive legal tasks requiring knowledge of legal terminology and the legal practice
- Strong and timely management of a very active legal practice with a “high touch” approach for a client base that expects a value-added relationship and timely responses
- Handle heavy caseload and assist with all aspects of the firm’s practice
- Assist in answering firm’s multiline phone system, taking notes/messages and directing as appropriate; initial screening of incoming potential clients
- Initial drafting of practice area contracts and documents
- Coordination of document finalization, mailings, etc.
- Act as Witness to client will signings
- Notarize documents
- Perform eFilings and Recording of documents
- Conduct research on various legal matters
- Performing administrative functions related to the practice of law
- Maintain calendar and monitor all deadlines in conjunction with client protocol, document deadlines, court deadlines and trial preparation deadlines
- File management (paper and electronic)
- Involvement in firm activities and community activities to build relationships externally
Qualifications:
- Ideal candidate has proven experience in firm’s core practice areas
- Knowledge of legal system, terminology, court procedures/rules
- Knowledge of MS Office, Westlaw, Clio Manage (CRM)
- Precise attention to detail and excellent skills in time management and service of clients in fast paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills (with clients and internally with staff)
- Be a team player able to work well and communicate effectively (internally and externally)
- Texas Notary
Education/Experience
Paralegal/Legal Assistant degree or certificate, and/or Associates Degree required, or educational equivalent
Minimum of 2 years’ experience at a law firm/legal environment; Texas litigation documentation experience preferred, or equivalent combination of training, experience and education
